JULIAN MENSAH

Julian Mensah is a Toronto-based designer and creative director known for creating brand-driven commercial spaces.

Born in Canada to Ghanaian parents, his perspective is shaped by a strong sense of culture, independence, and creative expression. From an early age, he was drawn to design, though it took time to recognize it as a viable path, given the lack of representation within the industry.

Prior to founding his studio, Julian spent over a decade at one of the world’s leading high street fashion retailers, where he held roles in visual merchandising and product management. This experience shaped his understanding of how brand, product, and environment come together to influence perception and experience.

In 2022, he founded Julian Mensah Interiors, a design studio focused on retail, hospitality, and workplace environments. The work centers on translating brand identity into physical space, creating environments that are both intentional and memorable.

Select residential projects are taken on each year, approached with the same level of clarity, restraint, and attention to detail.

STUDIO ETHOS

Julian Mensah Interiors is rooted in an Afro-modern perspective, where contemporary design meets cultural depth. The studio creates spaces shaped by heritage, lived experience, and a considered approach to modern life and how it is experienced.

Natural materials, layered textures, and quiet symbolism define the design language. Each project reflects values of knowledge, community, and intentional living, expressed through environments that support how people move, connect, and engage within a space.

The aim is not only to create beauty, but to shape interiors that feel cohesive, enduring, and deeply human.
